Stretching is a gentle form of exercise in which specific muscles, muscle groups, or tendons are deliberately flexed or stretched to improve elasticity and flexibility. Stretching is an important part of any fitness regimen, particularly before and after exercise to reduce risk of injury and increase athletic performance.
